Man charged in fatal stabbing on Navajo Nation

Shiprock man Steven Chee, 25, was charged with aggravated battery in the stabbing death of Emerson Tapaha, 28. Lorenzo Deel, 31, remained in serious condition. Wayne Nez, 25, and Tapaha were named suspects and victims. FBI to continue investigation after initial tribal police report.

Ancient adobe wall unearthed at Santa Fe City Hall

Remnants of an adobe wall dating to around A D 1150 were found by crews digging a trench in the Santa Fe City Hall parking lot. Archaeologists believe the wall dates to the period of Indigenous occupation, describing it as puddle adobe in brick form. Excavations in downtown Santa Fe often yield pottery shards nicknamed the tin cans of the ancient pueblos. The trench was dug to replace a collapsed drainage pipe carrying roof runoff to a storm sewer.
