Suspect quits post in Gallup-McKinley Schools

Gallup woman Mor day resigned from her part time secretary post after facing 31 felony charges of forgery and embezzlement. Lois Hylton, 36, was charged May 16 with taking more than 12 000 dollars from the Indian Hills PTA where she served as treasurer. Her resignation was accepted unanimously by the Gallup McKinley School Board and is effective immediately as court proceedings proceed.

Tuba City gets first Coconino County deputy

Robert James is the first Coconino County Sheriff’s Deputy stationed in Tuba City. The 43 year old bilingual officer runs the sheriff’s substation, previously served with the Navajo Police, and began duties on May 19. Local supporters including Louise Yellowman lobbied for the post. The substation serves a town of over 2,000 people with mixed Navajo and non Navajo residents.

Navajo Police investigate possible homicide of 23 year old Window Rock youth Timothy Walker who bled to death after a single stab wound. Medical examiner’s report states the case is being probed as a possible homicide. Lt. Colonel Henry Manuelito said more details would be released later today.
