Navajo Nation President to Meet Reno on Tribal Justice
Navajo Nation President Albert Hale will join 50 leaders today in Salt Lake City to discuss the new Office of Tribal Justice with U S Attorney General Janet Reno. Hale says the office must deliver real improvements for Navajo people, who face poverty and high unemployment. He notes past meetings helped policy but lacked direct daily-life impact. The office, opened January after Albuquerque talks, aims to coordinate federal Indian policy and serve as tribal contact. Hale plans to press for concrete policy changes to protect Navajo interests.
