Navajo Nation Council votes 57 to 12 with 5 absent to allow the Canoncito Band of Navajos to pursue gambling if a state New Mexico compact is signed. Drug cases heard by Grants grand jury including Lueras smuggling
Grand jurors in Grants reviewed multiple drug cases. Albuquerque woman Regina Lueras, 25, allegedly smuggled heroin into Western New Mexico Correctional Facility on May 10, facing trafficking and contraband charges. Theodore Webb, 26, and Maxine Webb, 36, of Grants were indicted for distribution of a controlled substance, marijuana to a minor, and paraphernalia possession, all alleged to have occurred June 28.

Tribal officer injured in three rollover crash near Pinon
Tribal police leader Officer Matthew Duran suffered major injuries when his unmarked patrol vehicle rolled three times after braking to avoid a crossing vehicle near Pinon High School. Duran, wearing a seatbelt, was ejected and hospitalized as Navajo police handed the case to Arizona DPS. City cedes control of Northside Clinic to regulators
