Grants woman dies in overdose after taking children on drive
Grants, New Mexico, mother Gaylynn Miles reported to have killed herself with a drug overdose and, in the same act, attempted to kill her three children Timothy 13 Orion 12 and Maryam 10. The family drove from Grants to Ramah and along dirt roads before the car caught fire just before sundown. Timothy pulled relatives from the flames and tried CPR as the temperature dropped to 12 degrees. The children, inadequately dressed, survived with burns and shock after escaping the vehicle.

Sheriff’s detective Sgt Steve Chavez notes transfers used to break up gangs and says the inmates were upset by the move. They damaged floor bolted beds and other fixtures.
