Gallup McKinley district meets to select an architect for an addition at Gallup Mid School and award a construction contract for a new Ramah high school. The $5.8 million bond issue finances the projects, with $3.5 million sold and $2.3 million to go. Seegee Engineering Co. of Albuquerque, the lowest bidder at $779,000, is recommended for Ramah. Start of Ramah work could follow a contract tonight, allowing construction to begin in early February.

Legislators, polled by UPI, rate tax cuts as the year’s top issue to recalibrate state and local financing, with a four-pronged plan proposing partial sales tax cuts, school funding shifts, expanded income credits, and targeted property tax relief totaling about 205 million dollars.
