Blaze must pay taxes court rules on Navajo Nation
Blaze Construction Co. must pay about 581000 in taxes before the Navajo Supreme Court will hear its appeal. Zuni clean water project nears completion date
Zuni Pueblo Gov. Malcom Bowekaty announced progress toward a clean water system. A USDA loan of 500000 plus a separate grant brings over 2 million for the program. Five wells and a generator will be built by a Laguna firm with 5 miles of pipeline from Ojo Caliente, plus a dechlorination facility and storage tanks. The project aims to deliver clean running water by 2000 with full completion by 2003, expanding westward for economic development and providing water for 50 to 70 years. Iron promagenate contamination now affects the current aquifer, causing discolored plumbing and sulfur smell in hot water.

Sawmill man dies in pickup rollover near Ganado
Navajo Police report a 41-year-old Sawmill Chapter father Thomas George Gail Jr died after being ejected from a pickup driven by his son Wayne Gail on U S 191 near Ganado. The vehicle overcorrected after leaving the northbound shoulder, rolled four times, injuring both men. Gail Jr died at Flagstaff Medical Center Monday. Wayne Gail was treated at Sage Memorial Hospital in Ganado.
