Gallup considers one eighth cent tax hike for library

Holidays near miss in Newcomb fire injures two
On Christmas Eve at 5 25 am a home fire near the old trading post in Newcomb Navajo Nation injured two members of the 82 year old Maxine Peterson family. Genevive Peterson entered the smoke filled home to rescue her mother as flames and smoke drove them toward safety.

Man Threatens Drug Informant at Fire Rock Casino
Gallup man Jack Duckett Jr. 50 was charged with retaliation against a witness after an Dec 10 incident at Fire Rock Casino. Duckett was arrested Dec 23 and posted $5,000 bond. An informant wore a concealed transmitter and recorder as part of a Middle Rio Grande Drug Task Force operation targeting drug sellers. An undercover agent conducted surveillance in the casino.
