The Bureau of Indian Affairs received a 214115 grant to upgrade science and math education for Navajo children. Proposed by the Navajo Science Committee education subcommittee led by Dr. Fred Young, the project will start with assessing offerings in Chinle and expand through three phases to improve and implement recommendations at high school and elementary levels across BIA state and mission schools. Prof. Charles Becker notes work will be conducted at Navajo Community College in Tsaile, Arizona.
Three Albuquerque men remained in the city county jail after arraignment in Magistrate Court on murder charges. Jack Wall and Herman Padilla were each ordered held with bonds set at 150000 and 100000 respectively, while Raymond Nieto faced a 100000 bond. Wall is tied to the beating death of Edward Gallagher whose body was found near the Acoma Pueblo.
