Crownpoint The Bureau of Indian Affairs hired former Crownpoint Police Lt Philmer Bluehouse as criminal investigator at the Crownpoint office from 36 applicants. He is a 1980 FBI Academy graduate in Virginia and 1978 criminal investigators program at the Federal Law Enforcement Academy in Ascorgia. He was hired Nov. 6 according to Agency Special Officer Richard Anderson.
Alice Macias of 509 East Maloney wins first place in Gallup's Fourth Annual Christmas Decorating Contest in the Northside area. The event is sponsored by the Gallup Board.

Parents of special children met with the Hopi Tribal Council in Kyotsmovi Arizona after the Hopi Center for Human Services lost all funding from the BIA and the Arizona State Department of Developmental Disabilities. BIA funds totaled 188000 yearly and state funds 81000 yearly with funding ending December 30. The council moved administration to the Hopi Health Division while retaining current staff, avoiding relocation for the children, but parents seek rescission of the original October resolution.
In January the Navajo Nation will seriously consider issuing tax exempt bonds for the first time. Officials anticipate bonds worth 20 to 30 million dollars, backed by a jump in permanent savings to over 11 million and reserves up to 38.5 million, with total savings up 27 million from 1984.

The Education Division will occupy half of the pink tin building beside the Tribal Council Chambers, with the other half housing the justice lawyers and law library. The Judicial Branch, Legislative Affairs, and chairman and vice chairman offices will relocate in stages, with final moves planned by February 1 to place related offices closer together.
