State police will be given time off Monday to spend with their families but alternating work schedules will mean that the highways are also well patrolled, he added.
Mountain Bell readies 630 operators for a holiday rush as Christmas and Hanukkah coincide for the first time in 18 years. About 370000 calls are expected with discounted rates on direct calls from 8 am to 11 pm and heavier activity during evening hours. Police safety and local fire officials warn about holiday fire risks, while churches prepare programs and outdoors enthusiasts plan winter activities in Mt. Taylor area.
