Tribal police officer and wife charged in Crownpoint beating
Navajo Police officer Edwin Gruber and his wife Ophelia were charged with battery and disorderly conduct after a beating in the hospital parking lot outside Crownpoint Public Health Service Hospital on Tuesday. Leonard Butler, director of the Navajo Department of Law Enforcement, said more details would follow.

WINDOW ROCK Navajo police say Lorena Zah-Bahe 51 was arrested December 4 on two counts of criminal damage to property and one count of leaving the scene of an accident after she allegedly rammed a rental car she believed belonged to her date’s companion. Zah-Bahe pleads innocent and denies the allegations, saying police found no alcohol in her system.

Non-Indian Convicted in Navajo Nation Shooting Death
A federal jury convicted Michael Pemberton a non Indian resident of the Navajo Reservation of voluntary manslaughter and using and carrying a firearm during a crime of violence for the March 10 murder on the Navajo Nation. The trial ended after 10 and a half hours of deliberation. The case was prosecuted by Kathleen Bliss and presided by U S District Court Judge Martha Vazquez.
