Thoreau High Student Stabs Teacher In Lunchroom
A teenage girl stabbed English teacher Trabert in the side with an eight inch knife at Thoreau High during lunch. Fellow students describe the assailant as quiet and mention prior animosity toward the target. Police arrived shortly after and took the student into custody.

The autopsy will determine if head wounds contributed to death.

Man Dies Under Train Near Thriftway Gallup
Police say Phillip Martin Jr. 26 of Yah-Ta-Hey died after he waved at an oncoming Santa Fe train then curled on the East 66th Avenue tracks. Witness deputy medical investigator called the death self inflicted as the 6 car train traveling 30 mph stopped too late. Family notified hours later.
