Navajo Teens Arrested in Brutal Navajo Reservation Murders
FBI agents and Navajo police arrested two teen suspects in Shiprock on the Navajo reservation in northern New Mexico after the murders of Gary Wayne Adams and his son Gary Douglas Adams of Jackson Mississippi. The 17 and 16 year olds were jailed in Santa Fe County Detention Center. The victims suffered close range gunshot wounds in what authorities call a brutal cold blooded crime.

Native diabetes project gets $300000 boost in New Mexico
A three year grant of 300000 from the National Institutes of Health funds the final phase of the Native American Diabetes Project NADP at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center. Principal investigator Dr Janette S Carter says the money expands the Strong Body and Spirit curriculum through train the trainer workshops to eight pueblos and beyond. The program emphasizes storytelling native foods and culturally specific traditions to educate about diagnosis treatment and prevention of non insulin dependent diabetes mellitus among Native communities. Laguna Pueblo tribal election details and polling locations
Laguna Pueblo voters in each village will elect tribal leaders for a two year term under the pueblo constitution first written in 1906 and amended since. The 1958 amendment allows direct village representation with seven polling sites. Four offices governor treasurer and interpreter will be filled, with one official chosen per village at the Rainbow Elderly Center in Casa Blanca.
