Zuni voters face governor race and incumbents choice
Zuni tribal election Tuesday pits incumbent Norman Cooeyate and Dancy Simplicio against former councilman Arlen Quetanki Sr and Willard Zuni. Polls open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Zuni Tribal building. 3,337 registered voters, 897 cast ballots in primaries. Chavez cites uncertainty and cites prior close results in 2006.

Chavez charged in Cubero shooting case in New Mexico
Jason Chavez, 17, of Cubero, faces one count each of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and tampering with evidence after a shooting that injured Lawrence Gonzales, 18, of Cubero. Navajo-area woman found dead after search effort
Betty Lee, a Navajo-area resident, was found dead Thursday after an extensive search for her following her disappearance Wednesday. About 20 people searched from early morning until late night, with authorities noting she appeared to have died from exposure after falling into water and becoming cold.
