Zuni elects new tribal council. Lewis retains governorship
Incumbent Robert Lewis and Lieutenant Governor Pesancio Lasiloo won re election by a slim margin as all tribal council incumbents were voted out. Joseph Dishta led council gains with 886 votes while Val Panteah followed with 854. Turnout reached 1 057 ballots at two machines and 125 absentees, amid Shalako ceremonies drawing voters from Albuquerque and beyond. Six other candidates fell short, including Barton Martin and Rita Lorenzo. The Zuni Election Board declared results official.
