Man guilty of false imprisonment in Gal lup case
Jury in Gallup District Court found Myrick Morgan guilty of false imprisonment after an argument with his wife Anna Morgan left her with a 15 inch scalp wound. He was acquitted of aggravated battery and battering his stepson. Morgan admitted lying about the incident. The verdict followed testimony from a nurse, police officer and family members.

Navajos to hold a special session for acting speaker

Family escapes fiery death in Rock Springs blaze
Heath Wilhelm awoke to smoke under a bedroom door and fled with his wife and 9 month old son Dustin as a gas water heater fault sparked a fire that destroyed their Derek Road home west of Rock Springs. Built in 1985 by Wilhelm’s grandfather Larry Wilson, the residence housed the Wilsons who run a local horse ranch. Wilhelm credited his prompt evacuation with saving his family. he said the outcome could have been far worse if the fire had started moments earlier.

Faulty Christmas lights spark Gamerco home fire
Gallup Fire Lt. Andy Carabajal says faulty wiring on indoor tree lights ignited a fire in Sandra Baca’s Gamerco home Monday. The blaze destroyed the house, with about 100000 dollars in damage and the loss of all possessions for Baca and her four children. Residents donated clothing at the south fire station on Nizhoni Boulevard and Second Street. Carabajal urged precautions including using artificial trees to reduce fire risk.

I 40 Closed Nine Hours In Gallup For Spill
New Mexico State Police halted traffic on I 40 in Gallup for nine hours on Tuesday while handling a 100 gallon hazardous material spill. A Stevens Transportation truck leaked liquid concentrate of currick sulfate nickel sulfate and ammonium hydroxide. Cleanup by Hazardous Materials team followed and Stevens will be billed. A separate fatal I 40 crash near Fort Wingate killed 74 year old Cole Leonard Crabtree of Victorville California after overcorrecting and striking a guard rail.

Plans to widen 666 unveiled in Gallup
The New Mexico State Highway and Transportation Department outlines a $32 million plan to widen U S 666 and improve feeder roads in Gallup.
