Gallup McKinley County Schools let out early as only 25 percent of students attended classes amid a heavy snow week. The district reopened briefly on Friday but extreme cold kept most buses idle and only two Gallup routes ran, with transportation issues causing widespread delays. In a related incident, Baseline explosions at Whitfield Tank Lines east of Aztec Avenue caused major damage and serious injuries, with about 300000 dollars in losses and Ray Chick listed in good condition at Rehoboth Christian Hospital.
Early Saturday at 2 p.m. a gasoline tanker exploded igniting a building in Red Bluff Trailer Park as 25 firefighters battled flames with foam and water in near zero temperatures.
