A 17 year old named Robert D Banks was shot in the head with a shotgun at close range on Wednesday at the home of Johnny Lee Buckley. Police say the incident appears accidental and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Plans are complete for the annual Christmas parade to be held Saturday at 10 a m. Four bands ten floats and several marching units will participate with seven awards including a sweepstakes cup for the best float. Floats include Gallup Jaycees and Jaycettes Gallup League of Women Voters Independent Order of Odd Fellows Order of DeMolay Gali Lions Club Cub Pack No 250 Gallup High School 8 Club GHSS Girls Athletic Assn Thoreau Cub Scouts Mexican Springs Job Corps Center and Scarlett Saints Senior Baton Corps.
McKinley County saw its tax valuation rise from 46.75 million to 50.61 million after Home Stake Sapiam returned late production figures for Ambrosia Lake uranium mines. County treasurer Louisa Romero presented the update at the year end meeting.
