Slayings expose Navajo officers near Monument Valley
Navajo police officers Andy Begay and Roy Lee Stanley were killed in execution style early Saturday. About 40 officers combed canyons west of Monument Valley while awaiting an FBI crime team. Investigators suspect a drug scene, with a truck later found burning in Copper Canyon near Lake Powell after the officers were placed in the vehicle. The last contact with Begay and Stanley was Friday night after guarding a basketball game at Monument Valley High School.
