Policy Dispute Shuts Navajo Head Start In Washington

The Navajo Nation Head Start on the Window Rock reservation has been shut down by the Parent Policy Council amid a dispute with tribal officials over program management. With federal funds cut, tribe funds are used. officials in Washington and tribal leaders meet to resolve funding and autonomy issues including bank accounts and separate computers for the program.

Aging delegates protest vote at White House conference

Grants gets new prison near Grants approved in New Mexico

New Mexico Corrections Secretary Roger Crist announced a 600 acre Grants area site for a $19 million prison. The complex will host a women's facility and an intake classification center with 80 and 144 inmate capacities respectively.
