Albuquerque Begins curbside Recycling Program
Albuquerque launched a curbside recycling program for single family homes and some apartment complexes. Collectors will pick up tin aluminum cans plastic bottles cardboard and newspaper twice a month with regular trash days. Glass foil and tree limbs will not be collected initially but may start in March. Official Jim Kaup expects 55 to 60 percent participation.

WINDOW ROCK Ariz The Navajo Nation Council Intergovernmental Relations Committee urged President elect Bill Clinton to halt business as usual. They asked Navajo President Peterson Zah to brief Clinton transition team with a one page summary and 17 page paper outlining tribal priorities for federal action. Prison escape suspect Robert Dunsworth recaptured after three days
Gallup police report 33 year old Robert Dunsworth of Albuquerque escaped Friday from the exercise compound behind the jail during a basketball game. He is wanted on multiple charges in McKinley and Bernalillo counties and is considered armed and dangerous. A dragnet and internal probe follow the incident. Call 911 with information.

MacDonald gets leniency in NTI racketeering sentence
Former Navajo Chairman Peter MacDonald escaped extra prison time in a racketeering case, receiving a five year federal term to be served concurrently with a tribal sentence in Window Rock.
