Ruling overturns drilling scope in wilderness areas
The 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled a Wyoming ruling erred by applying grammar error in the Federal Land Policy and Management Act to allow mineral leasing in wilderness study areas. The court said the act aims to maintain the status quo as of Oct. 21, 1976 and to protect wilderness values while allowing mining and grazing within limits.
