In a two day eradication sweep across Cibola and McKinley counties, three suspects were named after marijuana plants were found. Gregory Bellas of Candy Kitchen had two plants, David Byington of Candy Kitchen had 29 mature plants, and Pedro Perry of Thoreau had three plants. Law enforcement from multiple agencies participated, aided by public tips.
Five year old Mathias Pablo was mauled by six neighbor dogs near his Twin Lakes home Tuesday evening while walking to wash up for dinner. He sustained multiple bites and a severe leg gash and was treated at Gallup Indian Medical Center. Rabies shots were deemed unnecessary.
City and state officials close the 11th Street Maloney Avenue intersection to extend a curb in a $50,000 safety project. Will Williams of the Transportation Department says the site failed safety standards and was moved to prevent crashes with U S Highway 49T. Local shop owners fear the move creates new problems as drivers reroute through a Chinese restaurant lot, increasing fender benders and traffic in the area.
