Prayer in Saipan honors Navajo Code Talkers heroism
Special to the Independent from Saipan joint ceremony honors Navajo Code Talkers. Lt Gov Jesus Barja and CNMI committee chair Jetty Facey present a replica plaque for the Circle of Honor at American Memorial Park. Boja praised the Code Talkers and noted 15 visitors represent about one third of the Saipan detachment. Wilfred Billey noted campaigns from Guadalcanal to Okinawa and spoke of unity with locals.

Flames of Peace light up Los Alamos vigil
In Los Alamos about 30 people held a silent candlelit vigil at Ashley Pond marking Hiroshima's 50th anniversary. The event featured a candle spellout of Peace on the pond, a hillside banner reading How Many Died Before the A Bomb Guaranteed Our Freedom, and a listening circle of participants who discussed nuclear issues. Joel Younger, a rising senior, helped place a Veterans Memorial banner opposing war and expressing opposing views on freedom and tyranny.

Tuba City hosts horse lovers workshop with Parelli clinic
Tuba City Arizona hosts a two day horse lovers workshop led by Pat Parelli and Dr Robert M Miller. The event runs Thursday and Friday at Grey Hills Academy with weekend sessions Saturday and Sunday in the arena behind the school.
