Shooting claims life of 17 year old in Gallup
Independant correspondent reports deputies investigate a shooting in Mentmore area that killed John B. Sherman Jr. age 17 of 1305 W Aztec. Sherman and two other youths were target shooting when the victim suffered a gunshot wound to the head. Officers found three .22 rifles nearby and he was airlifted to Albuquerque where he died. The case remains under investigation.

Three Gallup-McKinley County Public School District campuses earned adequate yearly progress: Tohatchi Elementary Thoreau Elementary and Mid College High.
