Indictments Hit Drug Trafficking and Violent Crime in Grants

A grand jury indicted Raymond Loya of Bluewater on multiple cocaine trafficking charges plus distribution of psilocybin with related conspiracies. Separately, Virgil Watchman of Giants was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and evidence tampering. Other indictments included Elroy De Soto for aggravated stalking, James Torrez for receiving stolen property and related counts. Judge Joseph Arite handed down several sentences in recent actions, including probation and jail terms for multiple defendants.

Tar Wars hero Valdivia wins national Star Award

Dr Arnolfo A Valdivia, a Grants physician and Tar Wars advocate, received the 2000 Tar Wars Star Award in Washington DC for his four year effort educating fourth and fifth graders about tobacco dangers. Domestic violence on Navajo Nation increases on reservations
