A meeting of managers and representatives from five Lions Club teams in the County League at Boothman Barber Shop Lancaster honored Paul Fef Esbenshade, manager of the New Holland Lions, with a silver loving cup for the county championship. Esbenshade will have the cup engraved and displayed soon. Other locals at the meeting included Wm Davis and H Earle Wright.
In a High School Auditorium the local Girl Scouts presented their first public ceremonial last Monday. Captain Helen Becker explained the troop’s aims and methods, then Patrols 3 and 4 demonstrated marching and knot tying. Tenderfoot pins were awarded to fourteen girls, and Boy Scouts attended as honored guests with a house party stunt followed by a first aid scene. The program closed with America and praise for leadership.

Thirty two visitors were shown the buildings and farm while orphans performed dialogues drills and songs. The Fall Communion is set for October 2 during the morning service with the Order of Public Confession preceding. The pastor asks for word of shut ins wishing to partake of the supper.
Sunday School rooms at St Stephen church were filled for the fall social. A brief program was followed by an address marking the evening’s event.
