Numerous residents and visitors are named across Christiana, Philadelphia, Narberth and Lancaster. Meetings include funerals, family visits and weekend trips to Honey Brook Pottstown Blue Ball and Gap, with several overnighters and domestic travels noted among families such as the Hammonds Troops Bear Kline and Overly, plus a long list of local and regional residents.
The week’s Sunday crashes include a fatality at Mt. Joy Chickies Park after a wrong turn caused a Turner car to skid and overturn. Charles S. Fawber proprietor of the Lafayette Hotel died. Norton Fawber survived. Other injured: Ada Dorothy Fawber, Mrs Reed, Mr Reed, Mr Harnish, Mr Frankford. A second crash near Adamstown involved a Federal Transfer Co truck from Ephrata. five occupants were hurt with Harry Russell suffering a leg fracture and various cuts and bruises among the others. Russell was taken to Lancaster General Hospital.
The coming Sabbath marks the conference year end with a brief year summary by the pastor at both churches. He will preach at New Holland at 10 15 a m and at Ranck s at 7 30 p m with class leader elections at both sites. Ranck s Sunday school officers were elected for the year: Superintendent George S Ranck assistant Clayton Overly secretary Mrs Roland Bowman treasurer Marvin Brubaker librarian Amesa Smith assistant librarian Jason Lowery organist Miss Cora Shetzley assistant organist Miss Evelyn Weidman chorister Miss Evelyn Weidman. The pastor departs for Hershey Tuesday and will attend the conference sessions in Annville Wednesday, with lay delegate B B Brubaker accompanying him.
Raymond Weaver of Weaverland ran an Overland on the State Road toward Hinkletown Sunday night about 9 oclock. He drifted left while passing another car, the left wheel went into the gutter hitting a concrete culvert wall, the car leaped the curb and stopped ten feet away. He escaped injury though the car was badly wrecked in running gear body and top.
Goné'to Lancaster reports Guy R. Stone, formerly employed in the milk mill, has been working in this borough. The note updates a local labor movement and confirms Stone’s return to employment in the area.

Moore writes from Camp Mills Hempstead Long Island Sept 20 1917 to his father recounting furlough delay desertion punishments and his promotion to corporal He mentions training discipline bikes issued aviation nearby Mineola station Roy Musselman as a fellow flyer and uncertainty about departure to France He signs off as a happy boy in Co K 149th MG Bn Div 42.
The East Pennsylvania Conference of the United Brethren in Christ meets in Annville on October 2 for its 118th session. It covers east of the Susquehanna to the Delaware and includes Lebanon Valley College. A new conference superintendent will be elected. Rev Dr Lowery is honored after a quarter century of service. Bishop Rev William M Bell of Washington will preside and give daily Bible addresses.
A severe storm hit Martic Dromore and Fulton townships on September 21. It caused torrential rain flooding, hail from lima bean to Hickory nut size, and extensive damage to crops including tobacco corn and vegetables. Glass shattered in Fairfield and trees uprooted. Lightning struck corn in Conestoga Centre. Total losses range from 100000 to 200000 dollars.
Allison Garman of Hershey wed Mrs Anna A Keppel of Manheim Saturday evening at 6. Rev O G Romig officiated in a ring ceremony. Groom formerly worked at Hershey department store and as a guide at the chocolate factory. They depart for a two week wedding trip and will live in Hershey after October 10.
The York Fair will be held in York on October 2 3 4 and 4 and will attract about 200000 visitors. It emphasizes agriculture manufacturing and other pursuits in its sixty fourth year as a major exposition in wartime.
Social Society of Bridgeville Church hosts a chicken corn soup supper this Saturday evening at the church. Tickets include soup cakes fruits lemonade and music by the Blue Ball orchestra. If weather is unsuitable the supper moves to next Tuesday.

Miss Annie Elizabeth Hornsberger resident of Bareville. plus community events such as strawride by Bachelors Thimble Club, ladies Sewing Circle farewell for Evelyn Roseboro, and social gatherings in New Holland and Paradise celebrating anniversaries and dinners. Interments occur at Cedar Grove, Bergstrasse Lutheran, Akron United Evangelical, Groffdale Mennonite, and U B cemetery.
Mr and Mrs Clayton R Bair and daughters Grace and Laura hosted Saturday and Sunday guests including Mrs Bairs parents Mr and Mrs B Frank Weaver and Emma C Weaver of Philadelphia and Mrs Donald Hepler and Marion Hepler of Glenside Pa Also Leona Johns and Robert of Lancaster and Mr and Mrs John Seifrit of East Earl The gathering followed the funeral of Silas Biddell near Honey Brook on Saturday Mrs Weaver then returned home after three weeks with the Bair family
The Ladies Aid Society of Intercourse invites Saturday evening to a substantial chicken corn soup supper at the F. Pea Hall. A sale of homemade items will also be offered.
The Sovereign Grand Lodge of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows approved unanimous action at Louisville Kentucky to raise two million dollars for relief of members who enlist in the U S military service and for their families.
The family wishes to thank friends and neighbors for their kindness and support during their time of loss for Samuel F. Retten.
Many friends of Miss Wiennie M DeHaven report she has been ill for some time and they wish her a speedy recovery.
Deputy Medical Inspector C Howard Witmer reported four new infantile paralysis cases last Saturday. Three victims are in the family of Charles Trissler including Olive his fourteen year old daughter and two younger siblings. The other cases involve Charles F L Dagen's two year old son and Evelyn Seldomridge four, who fell from a lawn swing but is now paralyzed.
Tiane R. Eby of near Bird in Hand appeals to the Supreme Court from a lower court ruling in a divorce suit against his wife N Stella Fry Eby. The case, arising from a marriage in Elkton Maryland, saw a jury find in the wife’s favor and dissolve the marriage as legal. The appeal follows the verdict.
The Lutheran Woman's Missionary Society holds a Thursday afternoon meeting with business and social portions. Members are urged to attend at 2 o'clock for the call to order and fellowship.
