Wounded in Action Sergeant Ranck Seen in France
Sergeant Willis Ranck was wounded in Southern France on August 28 and sent to a hospital after being hit by shrapnel in the right shoulder and left hand. He has earned the Purple Heart and trained at Camp Croft. A New Holland family report notes his service since January 1943 with overseas duty beginning June 1943, and campaigns in Sicily and Italy.

Sgt. David R. Shrom son of Mr and Mrs D G Shrom of East Bard R 1 near Center Church was granted extended leave and sent home to await orders. He, a Flying Fortress gunner, flew twenty nine combat missions over Nazi held territory including Berlin and Osnabruck where the plane broke up in the North Sea. Rescued after the crash he survived with Mae West life vests helping afloat until pickup. He holds the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with oak leaf clusters and hopes to rejoin continental air forces.

Pfc. Elmer F. Siedhof thirty five of Intercourse R2 was killed in action in France August 29 as per War Department telegram to his brother Henry.
