The Come and Join class of St Stephen Reformed Sunday School met September at Mrs Harold Bensinger’s home. President Mrs Robert Witmer led a business session. They scheduled a bake sale for September 29 on the Clarion lawn and a Halloween party for the next meeting on October 16 in the church Social rooms.
The Young People's Department will hold a bake sale on the parsonage lawn Saturday October 6 at 10 AM. Proceeds support church youth activities and missions. Family and neighbors invited to donate or attend.

The Eighth Annual Farmers Day in New Holland runs October 4 to 6 with expanded features and thousands more expected attendees. The concessions committee forecasts completion over the weekend as new exhibitors sign up and department chairs list their heads for shows on vegetables, eggs and honey, canned goods, baked goods, fruit, tobacco, corn and grain, flowers, fancy work, and poultry.
The thirty first annual convention of the Ladies and Knights of the Golden Eagle met in E G E Hall Lancaster. Officers were elected with Mrs Mary Schlemm of Lancaster as president and Harry Weaver of Castle 157 New Holland as vice president.

Twenty five years ago in the Clarion for September 18, 1909 notes the eastern Farmers annual picnic moved from Rutland Park to Terre Hill due to the closure of the Welsh Mountains amusement site. Hon A W Snader bought the old Roberts property for future legal business now home to an American Legion post. The Elimaker family, once prominent in New Holland and Earl town, is also mentioned.
Kate S Martin, fourteen day old daughter of Mr and Mrs Raymond Martin of Ephrata RD 3 died of Pneumonia at home Monday. Survived by parents three brothers Benjamin Raymond and Daniel and grandparents Daniel Martin Red Run and Daniel Stauffer Ephrata RD 3. Funeral from home at 9 am to Pike Mennonite Church at 10 am burial in adjoining cemetery.
Benjamin M. Hershey, seventy nine, of Gordonville, died at Lancaster General hospital at 4 30 a m Sunday after an illness of one year. He was a Mennonite church member. Survived by wife, children Cora Buckwalter Edwin H Good Aaron Benjamin K and Mrs John Fenniger fifteen grandchildren four brothers and three sisters. Funeral from home at 1 p m Thursday with services at Paradise Mennonite church at 2 p m Burial in Hershey Mennonite cemetery.

Pequea Evangelical Congregational Church White Horse hosts Boys Day on Sunday September 23 with speaker Mr Peter Stoudt of Reading. Bridgeville Evangelical Congregational male choruses led by Paul M Sensenich provide vocal selections. Rev H A Firing pastors the Friendly Church inviting the public.
Rev. S. G. Kauffman of Lancaster will preach the Home Coming sermon at Mount Tabor United Brethren church Intercourse charge at 10 30 a m Sunday. He founded the Mt Tabor congregation and the Brunnerville United Brethren church choir will provide music.
Revival meetings will be held at the Blue Ball Church of the Brethren every evening starting Sunday September 30 at 7 15 o clock. The services will be directed by Rev. David Smader of Akron.
The B P W Club announces a public library opening following a Sunday Rally Day at the United Brethren church with services, music by Esther Dyer and Geraldine Richards, and sermons by Rev. F C Aungst and Hiram W Lefever. The men’s club outlines fall activities and a school library project with 150 donated volumes and a push to create juvenile shelves.
Rufus Musser, 36, of Narvon R D 1 near Bowmansville, was seriously injured Wednesday morning when a team of mules ran away and crushed him between a farm building and the wagon as he tried to stop them. He sustained a compound fracture of the left leg about five inches above the ankle and was taken to Lancaster General Hospital. Doctors fear whether the leg can be saved due to the wound.
The Women s Bible Class of St Stephen Reformed Church hosts an apron and necktie social in the Sunday School rooms on Friday evening September 28 at 7 30. Entertainment and refreshments provided. Adults 15c children 10c. Bring friends.

Farmers Day slated for October 4 5 and 6 promises a record turnout and a rich prize list. The Horse Show at Storkfield grounds features about 200 in trophies and ribbons with entrants from Lebanon and Lancaster. Entries must be mailed to Mr. Snader by September 29.

A special borough meeting approved swearing in three extra police under burgess control after guidance from the borough solicitor Sheriff Shuman and Harrisburg state police. Frank II and Sons will hire two guards for mill protection while the borough funds for plant guards were denied.
A conference on Religious Education under the East Pennsylvania Synod and the Ministerium of Pennsylvania will be held at Trinity Lutheran church in Lancaster on Tuesday September 25. Sessions convene at 9 30 a m 1 30 p m and 6 30 p m Standard Time.
