A local sixteen or under contest supervised by Jno H Sensenig will start September 28 at Storb Field with kites supplied to the first 144 entrants. All kites must be airborne by 9 00 am and the winner can choose between a silver loving cup or a strap watch.

Auto Burns. Paul Rutter Dies in Fire After Crash

Paul Rutter a nineteen year old from New Holland R D 3 was burned to death Sunday evening when his roadster crashed into a telephone pole near Sheaffer’s School House between the borough and Hinkletown. Witnesses say he lost control after passing another car. the car skidded twenty feet and then burst into flames, making escape impossible. Ezra Burkholder arrived too late to aid him. The body was taken to J C Henninger’s undertaker parlors where coroner and physician confirmed death by burns. The youth lived with his grandparents Mr and Mrs Oliver Ruhl at Voganville and is survived by his mother Mrs Abe Griffith two brothers James Raymond and a sister Cana. Funeral services were held Thursday at the grandparents’ home and Voganville Union Church with interment in the adjoining cemetery.

Primary Election Returns Signal Republican Wins in New Holland

Voters backed Republican candidates in Tuesday’s primary with Percy H. Shaub narrowly defeating William S. Warner 122 to 97 for tax collector. Local interest surged as nineteen names appeared for Borough Council nominations amid mixed party tallies for judges and county offices.

Legion Card Party Opens Fall Series At Legion Home

American Legion Post 662 hosted the first card party of the fall season in its Legion Home. Players competed in pinochle and five hundred with Amos K. Zuck top scoring in five hundred and F B Keiser leading in pinochle. Door prize went to Mrs. Viola Zuck. Next party set for October 15.

David Lauder 72 died at his home in Hinkletown Thursday evening after a lingering illness. Survived by his wife Fannie Buckwalter and children Ada, Emma, and listed brothers and sisters. Funeral held Monday at his home and Graffdale Mennonite Church. interment in the adjoining cemetery.

One-Year-Old Lydia Riehl Dies at Leacock Township

Lydia Riehl age one of Mr. and Mrs. Moses Riehl near Shirk's store Leacock township died Sunday evening from complications. She leaves parents two brothers Benjamin Jacob and sister Mary at home grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Riehl of Intercourse and Rev. and Mrs. Benjamin Beller of Banks. Local People Return From Seven Week Europe Tour

Mrs. Wilford G. Stauffer and daughter Jane of Broad Street return to their borough home after a seven week Europe trip to France Italy Switzerland and England. Local Man Rents New Holland House for Boarding and Dining

The New Holland House, once run by J. P. Rutter and bought by the New Holland National Bank, will become a boarding house and restaurant on October 1 under Percy H. Shaub. The lower floor will house the restaurant, with a ladies room and rest rooms, offering daily meals and Sunday dinners. Boarding will be available by day, week, or month with a boarders table.
