Crossing accident near Heller's Church on New Holland road
Elmer Groff of Bareville escaped with bruises after his wagon and team were hit by a mixed freight and passenger train at a grade crossing near Heller's Church on the Mechanicsburg to Lancaster line. Obscured view due to a nearby building to the west and a cut to the east contributed to the collision. the horse was killed, the wagon destroyed, and Groff’s injuries limited to the hips and legs. The train was moving eastward at the time.

York man killed in dynamite blast on State road near Oregon
George Heilman of York died after a blasting accident on the State road near Oregon. He leaned over a drilled rock hole to see why the other charge failed and was blown apart by a simultaneous explosion. Coroner Miller ruled accidental dynamite explosion. He is survived by his mother and was well regarded by coworkers.

Oil Stove Explosion Kills Infant Near Wakefield
An oil stove exploded at the home of William Kirk near Wakefield in Fulton Township on Tuesday morning killing his eight month old baby. The blast damaged the house and windows while oily fire burned the infant, who died that afternoon. The cause remains unclear though cleaning and refilling the stove preceded the tragedy.
