Farmers Institute at Rutland Park Highlights Timely Topics
The Farmers Institute for eastern Lancaster and western Berks counties held a summer session at Rutland Park. Ephraim Hoover opened the program, Rev J H Royer led devotion, and Rev Harry Kurtz gave the welcome. Sessions covered double down markers, potato rot, waste in farming, soil fertility, soiling dairy feeding, and silo use, with expert talks and demonstrations from Miss Ella Fry, Rev Dietrich, and Hon John H Landis.

Emerson traveled on foot and by caravan through several western states gaining knowledge and scenery insights while Milton worked in Kansas machine shops in Salina. Emerson plans to stay home for some time after their journey.

Giant 24 Pound Cabbage Grown in Local Garden
A West Main Street resident Mr Weaver showed a huge cabbage head weighing twenty four pounds and measuring about four feet in circumference. Several neighbors also reported large produces from their gardens. The unusual yield drew attention to the community garden plots.

Teacher Brubaker Injured in Bicycle Accident
Naple Grove school teacher Misa Saidee F. Brubaker rode a bicycle to school on Monday morning. While descending a hill her skirt tangled in the pedals and she was thrown to the ground. She escaped serious injury though her clothing was torn and her watch broken.

Children of Salisbury thief sent to county institutions
Taken to the County Institutions Two of the children of Henry C. Koff roth of Salisbury township, who was sentenced to fifteen years in prison last week for horse stealing and arson, have been sent to county institutions. One five years old to the home for friendless children and another three years old to the county almshouse, being too young for the home. A younger child remains with its mother.

Escape from county asylum returns Palmer to home
Pierce Palmer of near Lauferyite escaped the county insane asylum about two weeks after arrival and reached his former home. Thick Lynch returned him to the asylum on Tuesday morning as his condition remained disturbed.
