Farmers Day Exhibit Moves Charter Toward Nonprofit Status
The seventh annual Farmers Day Exhibit in New Holland opens October 5 and 7 under a charter being pursued to create a membership nonstock corporation for display and advancement of farming art. The event will feature expanded inside space at the Parish House, enhanced flower displays, a bigger poultry exhibit, and the Ox Roast with John Hoffman returning as chef. Local groups anticipate strong exhibitor interest and musical performances by the Boys Band.

The borough council announced that S S Lewis secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Highways notified Burgess Henninger that more streets have been taken over by the Commonwealth. East and West Main streets extend 1.7320 miles and routes 36 030 and 36 058 cover South Custer Avenue and Brimmer Avenue, with Main Street as Route 244. This Act No 290 of June 1 1933 shifts highway maintenance from the borough to the state. Water plantings were inspected and found in good condition. Financial statements of the borough and water department are presented.

In the Clarion's note from 1908, the New Holland Boys registered eleven hits for five runs at Terre Hill last Saturday. Property sales included the Jacob W. Zimmerman farm of 72 acres selling for 177 dollars per acre to H M Houser, the Moses S. Martin 52 acre farm sold to Samuel Musser at 181 dollars per acre, a 50 acre John B. Sensenig estate parcel sold to Harry M. Weaver for 215.65 dollars per acre, and a 53 acre farm sold to Levi Burkholder for 200 dollars per acre.

The show unfolds in a broadcasting studio with Jimmy Waddell, played by J Paul Kochel, and Jane Rogers by Florence Brimmer, as they battle finances to keep the station alive while talent leaves. Joe the office boy, portrayed by Clarence Martin, helps save the program by a sensational on air act. Kathleen Meairg plays Gertie Green and sings the high spot number.

Legion Festival Draws Big Crowd With Prizes
Conestoga Post No 662 American Legion held a Saturday festival at the local baseball park. Prizes went to John C Steiner Thelma Robinson and Clarence Gehman for a refrigerator a World’s Fair trip and a child’s motorcycle. About four thousand attended as the Auxiliary sold soups and refreshments and the Boys Band provided music. The fireworks display was praised as the best yet.
