The September term of Lancaster quarter sessions opened with Judge Livingston presiding. A total of 272 cases had been returned since the last term, 182 on the trial list for jury disposition and 83 for surety of the peace or desertion. The grand jury foreman is Bordley Patterson of Little Britain. Isaac W. Staufer a longtime Caermarvon Township resident died at Beartown Wednesday night aged about eighty five. He was a retired farmer and is survived by his second wife and five children Dr A P of Hagerstown Md Barton of Chester Pa Jacob of South Hermitage Anna at home and Mrs Neidhank of Reading. Funeral services were held Saturday and interment at Bridgeville Evangelical cemetery.
A trolley car from Ephrata bound for Lancaster was struck by lightning during a heavy storm near a railroad bridge. The bolt burned out both motors and left passengers stunned but no one seriously injured. Squire Shirk of Denver had clothing burned. The car was completely disabled.
