Borough Council met Tuesday night and approved macadamizing Kutz avenue after curbing, set cost sharing for future concrete gutters with the property owner, authorized an aerator for the new well, and approved a pump house. Roofs at the reservoir property were repaired and painted. The Special Officer issue was addressed for quicker availability.
The second annual Hinkletown school reunion will be held on the school grounds with two sessions at 2 and 7 p.m. The afternoon program features Harriet Gehman leading singing, a S. S. Wenger historical report, and talks by former teachers. REV W Scott Brendle will give the principal address.
Moses Burkholder son of Mr and Mrs David Burkholder of New Holland R1 is recovering from injuries after an auto driven by Ivan Mellinger of New Holland struck his bicycle and threw him into a field as the car tried to avoid an unlighted wagon on the Hinkletown road. Complaints arise about unlighted wagons endangering traffic. no police report yet.
The Mt Tabor United Brethren church observes its forty fifth anniversary with morning and evening services. Repairs to the building costing 150 dollars are completed. Dr S C Enck will preach at 10 am and preside at the 11 am quarterly conference. Rev Thomas May of Paradise preaches at 7 30 pm. The Intercourse Mt Tabor charge conducts the quarterly conference.
Conestoga Post 662 selects Charles A Mentzer and Otto F Messner as delegates for the district to the national convention in New York City this month. Roosevelt Hotel will host delegates with registration advised. The schedule includes the Senior Bugle Corps final at Polo Grounds on September 20 and a Philadelphia September 17 18 Constitution Celebration en route to New York.

On opening day 1887 New Holland schools enrolled 192 pupils across four rooms, crowded conditions noted. Voganville Cigar Box Factory reports strong August production with 17 500 boxes and ten workers. Beartown School vacancy announced for six month term at $38 salary. A young lady in town loses control of her jaw from chewing gum, possibly needing surgery. Alumni Association hosts corn roast near town with excellent corn. Amos Good oversees roasting. L M Stork travels to Akron as umpire for a baseball game between 1891 Akron champions and 1912 club, praised for hometown reliability in sports.
On opening day in New Holland Schools, a total of 170 students were registered as classes began. Teachers welcomed families and outlined the new term while administrators outlined plans for the year.
Ten years ago on September 9 1927 the Conestoga Post of the American Legion relocated to a new building on West Main Street. Previously the headquarters occupied the third floor of the Showalter Building. Also announced was Prof C N McHose of Lancaster named Director of Music for Trinity Lutheran Church.

An inspirational song service will be held Sunday at 7:30 p m in the Zeltenreich Reformed church two miles southwest of New Holland. Sing ing classes under 5 A Schotzberger of Lancaster present the program with hymns readings and anthems performed by mixed quartets and choral groups.
A chicken corn soup supper will be held in the grove adjoining Center church by the Lutheran and Reformed Sunday Schools on Saturday September 11 from 4 to 10 pm. Music will be provided by the Bowmansville Orchestra.
A Delaware County town witnesses a brief sit-down by three crew members as they snack during a freight stoppage. The brakeman signals departure as the train resumes, with an empty pop bottle left by the roadside and cheers that the plan went smoothly.
The fifteenth annual Martin Myers family reunion drew 150 members to Ephrata Park in Ephrata. The program featured songs, prayers by Rev. Bachman, addresses by Martin Good and others, recitations by Laura Warner, and officer elections with a slate including Martin Good as President and Emanuel Weaver as Treasurer.

The St Stephen Reformed church choir and guest soloists hosted a corn and dog roast at Bair's Park in Gap on Friday evening. Attendees included numerous local residents from Christiana Lancaster Intercourse Blue Ball Gap and surrounding areas, directed by Wayne B Ranch.
The Ladies Auxiliary of the Liberty Fire Company elected officers led by President Mrs. George S. Good and Vice President Mary Good. Fire Chief H. K. Weaver was authorized to purchase a hose extension device. County Association rural fire protection drive noted by Lewis Martin. October entertainment committee named. A special meeting September 13 set to discuss Farmers Day plans.
The Christian Ruoss family reunion at William M. Ruoss’s Bareville home featured music by Marion Dunn Roy Dunn Thelma Lutz and Elmer Lutz and Claude Ruess. Officers elected President William M Ruoss and Secretary Mrs Raymond Ruoss. Oldest man present Christian Ruoss 72 and oldest lady Mrs Christian Ruess 66 received prizes.
Edward J. Harvey eighty five of Honey Brook township Chester county died Wednesday from complications at home. He was the last of his family. Survived by daughters Ethel at home and Mrs Samuel Suders Narvon R D three grandchildren. Funeral at 2 p.m. Saturday at Eppihimer funeral home Honey Brook with interment Bridgeville U B cemetery.
Farmers Day Association holds meeting at Farmers Bank to set October 7 8 9 events. Industrial Parade on Oct 7 features prize for largest group largest business vehicle and best musical unit. Mummers Pet Parade Friday Lions Club corn husking contest music by bands to be announced with Paul Esbenshade and Sydney Irons directing.
The King's Daughters will hold fall meetings Tuesday evening at the home of Mesec 2 Warner, 780 West Main Street. Members are asked to bring homemade candy for veterans at Perry Point hospital, with Red Cross delivering the donations.
The Alpha Class of the Bridgeville Evangelical Congregational church sponsors a musicale on Sunday evening September 12 at 7 39 ST. Ralph Overley’s Quartet of Ephrata will perform.
Charles H. Brown spent two weeks in Adrian Michigan surveying local dairies before returning home. Miss Helen E. Wanner daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William I. Wanner began studies at St. Josephs School of Nursing on September 1.
The New Holland Young Democratic Club will hold a meeting on Monday September 13 at 7 30 p m in the basement of the Farmers National Bank building.
