Jay Wenger and wife from Trenton, N.J., visited Milton and family in town. R B Wright spending this week at the National Bakers Association convention in Louisville, Kentucky. Wright family visited Mrs. Wright’s sister in Pottstown. Harold Diehl and friend from Reading called on relatives. Ella Keiser visiting relatives and friends in New York City. Mrs. Miller of Honey Brook and Miss Jennie Harris of Philadelphia spent Labor Day with Samuel Robinson and family. Elizabeth McNeal of Morgantown and Edna Mohler of Ephrata visited Carrie Seber at Eagle Hotel. Seber has gone to Denver for work two weeks. Chas. B. Frank of New Holland and Noah H. Groff of York spent several days in Baltimore and Washington last week. Luther Ranch of Pittsburgh was a town visitor part of the week. After four years’ absence, J. Warren Bryson, wife and daughter Alma May, spent three days with Henry Lied and family at Schaefferstown. Rev. H. Albright went to Philadelphia to visit grandson Gerald Brubaker. I. H. Albright and others expect to enter Lebaron t Annville on Monday.

New Holland Ball Club Beats Red Lion in Saturday Showdown
The New Holland base ball club played three games this week, winning at Red Lion 2 to 1 on Saturday, then splitting two Monday games with Hanover. The morning was a loss, the afternoon 5 to 5 ten inning tie due to rain and darkness, with strong defense and solid hitting noted in both contests.

A severe Sunday storm struck two miles north of town destroying Eli Smoker’s barn and contents including hay stock and livestock. Insurance covered part of the loss. Nearby Jacobys farm barn burned with houses spared. Intercourse area also suffered with Stoltzfus home roof damage and Knobb King house damage. Four cows died when lightning struck a tree sheltering them on Duffield Bowers’ farm.
