Mrs. Samuel Weaver of New Holland RF D Mrs. Martin Ruoss Mechanicsburg and others attended funeral services Thursday afternoon at 1 o clock from J C Henninger s Undertaking Parlors in New Holland. Burial followed in the Zeltenreich Reformed Cemetery two miles south of New Holland.
Mrs Daniel U Oehme 81 died at her East Earl home Thursday after seven months with paralysis. Survived by husband and children Charles New Holland William Lancaster Eugene East Earl John Harrisburg Sara M Laura EB at home ten grandchildren three great grandchildren. Member Cedar Grove Presbyterian church. Funeral from the home Saturday at 2 pm with burial in Trinity Lutheran cemetery New Holland.
A film titled Lest We Forget will be shown in the United Brethren Church auditorium on Thursday September 9 at 7 45 p m It portrays the saloon era before Prohibition and follows Jimmy McNulty from childhood poverty to his role as family provider amid his parents drinking and a grim family life.
The annual Conestoga Post American Legion festival drew nearly five thousand people despite two postponements. A brilliant night fireworks show featured Liberty Bell and In Flanders Field with heavy detonations while the Lancaster American Legion Band replaced earlier engagements. Booths sold many novelties and refreshments as prize money of 25 dollars was won by Mrs Amos Zuck of the borough.
At a special meeting of the directors on August 19 1926 the board mourned the loss of co-director and Secretary Treasurer Paul B Hess who served twenty two years since September 5 1910. They express deep regret and sympathy to his bereaved family and commend them to divine consolation. The resolutions are entered in minutes and published in the New Holland Clarion. The Lions Club of New Holland laments the death of Paul B Hess a pioneer in establishing Lions International activities here. The resolutions committee notes his leadership fellowship and generous community spirit, and offers heartfelt sympathy to his widow.
Aubrey K Steffy of Lancaster married in Bareville area at St Stephen's Reformed Church New Holland. Rev C G Bachman officiated the ring ceremony with the couple unattended. The bride, a Chautauqua School of Nursing graduate, and the groom connected with American Stores Company. The couple left immediately after the ceremony.

Michael Diffenderfer and his son initiated the town's development by laying out the New Design in 1760. Ralph W. Walters twenty six of East Main street Ephrata was killed instantly when a train struck the eggs truck he drove with his nephew Percy Fry slightly injured. Walters mother and two daughters survive along with his parents brothers and a sister. Funeral services will be private at the Walters home and burial is in St Elias Cemetery Newmanstown.
A 72 acre farm in Honey Brook township is sold by heirs of Clinton Buchanan to Stephen M. Stoltzfus. Separate parcels include 107 East Main Street in New Holland Borough sold for Harry C. Brubaker to Meyer Plotnick. The New Holland Borough School District and Ella A. Stauffer release land to open East Broad Street from Roberts Avenue to North Railroad Avenue. Mrs. Ella A. Stauffer sells a lot to Edward L. Sutton on the north side of East Broad Street, creating five building lots facing Roberts Avenue through exchanged lands with the school district.
During the Conestoga Post 662 festival in Lancaster County, thieves entered two New Holland homes and one Bareville home. They ransacked Harry Spotts on Diller avenue, stealing about 190 dollars and a bicycle, and took about 75 dollars from A L Whitmer. Park Bowers Bareville lost a gold watch, a revolver, and cedar chest items, with the watch later found hidden near a fence. A light colored felt hat near Spotts's home is a key clue as detectives trace owners seeking arrests in coming days.
