New Holland Tramps in Jail and a Republican Parade
In New Holland October 31 1896 tramps caused trouble at a local hotel and were jailed. Two other intruders demanded money from girls at a farm. a wagon whip was used to deter them. A large Republican parade with visiting speakers and local clubs drew crowds, amid heavy editorial coverage of McKinley and Bryan. A Massachusetts barber advertised wildly with odd physiognomy based lines, prompting skepticism about his trade.
