Hanford Sweigart, 67, former Cedar Lane lumber yard operator, died Wednesday afternoon at his West Chester home from a stroke after several days illness. Survived by Mrs. Charles Walton of West Chester and Charles Sweigart of Avondale. Funeral held at Ranch United Brethren church with interment in nearby cemetery.

Narrow escape at railroad crossing in Martindale
At Railroad Avenue in Martindale a large wheat truck owned by Eli Zimmerman and hauled by Clayton Reich narrowly avoided a collision with the morning train.
