Cyrus Garman ninety one of Hahnstown died Saturday after a brief illness. Funeral services were held Thursday morning at 9 30 from Bergatrasse Lutheran Church. Interment took place in the adjoining cemetery.
Nine months old Lester C Boose son of Harvey and Elizabeth Cover Boose died Monday at 4 30 AM at home near Bird in Hand from bronchial pneumonia. Survived by parents two sisters Esther and Edna and brother Harvey Jr funeral held Wednesday at 2 PM from the home and 2 30 PM at Stumptown Mennonite church interment in adjoining cemetery
Mrs Lucinda Charles widow of Dr Jacob Charles died Monday at 6 30 AM at her West Main Street home Ephrata after a fourteen week illness. She was the daughter of the late Daniel and Mary Eshleman of New Holland and a Zion Reformed Church Lincoln member. Surviving are four children Mrs Vernon Clay Kline Lancaster Jacob B Charles York and a stepson Theodore K Charles of Lancaster. Funeral services Friday from the home at 1 30 PM with burial in Bowman's Cemetery Ephrata.

The Golden Bucks lost to Lebanon in a sharp nine inning game. Snell hurled 14 strikeouts in the nine frames, while the infield solidified by Billy Eker’s sharp fielding and Mellinger at third. Rev. Harry E. Shepardson of New Providence Reformed Church was elected president of the Classis of Lancaster Eastern Synod Reformed Church United States at the seventy second annual session in New Holland. E Snyder of Lancaster named vice president with Brendile as assistant clerk. The gathering featured ministers from Lancaster and Dauphin counties, a large roll of members, and notes on missions to Sendai Japan. A Near East relief appeal was made and action taken Wednesday. J P Moore, missionary to Japan, attended.
An all day Ascension Day meeting at the New Holland Mennonite Church is planned for Thursday May 29 1924. The program includes devotions sermons and lessons with speakers from Goodville Murrell Millersville Hagerstown Akron Union Grove and other areas. The event features morning devotions 11 30 intermission 12 30 song service and afternoon talks on church mission and teacher responsibilities followed by an evening devotional and sermon.
The United Brethren in Christ Church celebrated its anniversary with a Christian Endeavor Society program. Harry Miller played violin solos, Grace Groff gave an historical sketch, Dorothy Mohler performed a recitation, and Joseph P. Shen addressed the gathering. A strawberry social was announced for St Stephen Reformed Church basement on Saturday.
The local high school prepares for the end of term with a Baccalaureate sermon on Sunday June 1 at Trinity Lutheran Church by Rev. E L Lessey. A Class Day program is set for Monday June 2 at 8:00 PM in Harner's Theatre with music, essays, recitations, solos, and the Mantle Oration. Commencement follows Tuesday June 8 at 8:00 PM in Harner's Theatre with salutatorian Edna M Stauffer high school oration by Eleanor Warner and valedictory Mary R Overly. Tickets go on sale Monday.
This week features the Harrisburg Giants, a top black baseball club, in a scheduled game at New Holland. Fans are promised a record crowd and a strong match with entertainment including shadow ball, plus Memorial Day doubleheader with Brown's Darlings of Mt. Joy at 10:00 AM and 3:30 PM.
