The East Lampeter Alumni Association will hold its annual banquet on Thursday evening May 25 at Hostetter's Playbarn in Bird-in-Hand. A delightful dinner and an interesting program are planned. All graduates of East Lampeter High School are expected to attend.

The new Paul F. Esbenshade Funeral Home at 145 West Main Street announces an open house this Friday and Saturday. The facility features a colonial brick exterior, a 160-seat chapel, private parking for sixty, modern preparing rooms, a flower room, casket display, and a convenient rear garage.
The Constant Workers' class of Trinity Lutheran church held a Sister Party at Mrs. J. Herbert Evans's Broad Street home on Tuesday evening. Hostesses were Mrs. Evans Mrs. Frank Lammey Mrs. Martin Kurtz and Miss Betty Yost. Plans were discussed for The Circus to be held June 1 and 2.
Mrs. Evelyn Ranek of Leola was elected to lead the B P W Club as officers were chosen in the recent meeting.

The monthly Volunteers Class of the United Brethren Sunday school met at Mrs. Leon Myer’s Bareville home on Tuesday evening. The session focused on “The home” with songs, prayer, a scripture lesson, a poem, and a talk on happiness in the home. The group reported 18 visits in two months. attendees included Mrs. Leroy Martin and others.
Styer and Evans real estate and insurance agents announce the sale of Paul F Esbenshade's Broad Street property to H Earle Wright, a local bakery operator. The deal includes the house and a large ground plot but not all frontage. Esbenshades will move with their family to an apartment in the new funeral home on West Main Street.
June 1 and 2 at the high school auditorium present a lighthearted show titled The Circus. The Lutheran Sunday school group promises a wildly funny production with circus themes and satirical sketches. Committee work underway to ensure a splashy, large-scale performance.
Robert W. Aungst son of Rev. and Mrs. Frank C. Aungst and Ruth M. Martin daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jonas M. Martin were married Friday at 2 PM at the United Brethren church parsonage. The ceremony was performed by the groom’s father. The couple will reside in town after a trip to Ocean City. The bride works at Garvin in Lancaster. the groom works in the local PA Power and Light office.
Miss Beatrice Garrett of Honey Brook and Norwood P. Keylor eldest son of Dr and Mrs Walter N Keylor of Leola were married in Elkton Maryland on Tuesday. The ceremony united two prominent families in a simple vows service.
The Ladies Bible Class of St Stephen Reformed Sunday School met at Mrs E M Highs Blue Ball home with twenty two present. A special refreshment table was arranged for members attending in May.
A New Holland couple Ed and Mrs Parmer celebrate their Golden Wedding on May 18 with friends and family sending cards gifts and flowers. They were wed fifty years ago by Rev Thomas Garland at the United Brethren parsonage. Attending were son Park Palmer and family daughter Mrs Ella Hillard with husband and children Ruby and June and others including Mrs Marlin Hillard and her two children Jay and Shirley plus Mrs Ray Martin. They are grandparents to ten and great grandparents to eight.
A Memorial song service will be held at Graffdale Mennonite Church on Sunday May 30 at 7 PM. Rev Eli G Lauder will read the scriptures Floyd S Graybill will offer a prayer and Rev Benjamin G Wenger will deliver the main address.
Harry N. Landis, secretary of the Upper Leacock township school board, announced that the fire loss on Upper Leacock High school has been paid in full. The board has received $100,000 and will advertise for bids to rebuild once state approval of plans is secured.

Adam Martin of 810 North Plum street Lancaster died at home Thursday May 20 after a yearlong illness from complications. Survived by wife Anna M Lichty, six children John Miriam Homer Evert Paul and Mary, seven grandchildren and many siblings. Funeral Sunday at 1 pm at 810 North Plum with 2 15 pm service at Weaverland Mennonite church. Burial in adjoining cemetery. Calling hours Saturday 7 to 9 pm at home.
Harry B. Burkhart forty two of Bareville died Wednesday in Lancaster General Hospital from complications. He was a bookkeeper, Mennonite church member, son of Aaron and Annie Burkhart. Survived by wife Edna M. Landis Burkhart and sisters Mrs Jerry Frey and Mrs Frank K Book. Private funeral at 2 pm Saturday at home, public service 2 30 pm at Stumptown Mennonite church. Interment in adjoining cemetery. Friends may call 7 to 9 pm Friday at home.
At Farmers National Bank building a Tuesday Boy Scout meeting drew twenty five attendees including three candidates. On Sunday May 16 New Holland Scouts visited Philadelphia attractions Aquarium Franklin Institute and Planetarium. Scoutmaster Clyde Kauffman and Assistant Scoutmaster Diffenderfer led the meeting while the Lancaster Camporee patrol aims to gain 850 points to qualify for the June 4 event.
Mrs H B Keiper Mrs J A Fritchey and Miss Elizabeth Fritchey of Lancaster were guests of Mrs Walter C Herr in the borough.
The Ladies Aid Society of Cedar Grove Presbyterian Church will hold a strawberry social on Saturday May 29 on the church lawn. Rain date is not specified.
The New Holland Lions Club sponsored service prizes go to first Charles Reifsnyder second Leonard Levitt and third Joyce Hooker. Betty Yost wins the Business and Professional Women's prize. Prizes to be awarded at Commencement with details on judging by teachers and ballots.
The Class of 1937 will hold baccalaureate services in the high school auditorium Sunday at 8 p.m. Rev. Benjamin Wenger of Ephratia and Metzler's Mennonite congregations will deliver the sermon titled The Gospel.
The American Legion Auxiliary of the local Post has five hundred poppies made by disabled soldiers and will sell them during the last week in May and on Memorial Day. The officers urge public support for this charitable drive.
A cooking school will be held at the Blue Ball Fire Hall on Saturday May 22 at 730 p.m. Mrs. McCleary of East Penn Gas Company will lead the demonstration and A T Burkholder the local management will supervise the event.
Announcement that the Uniform Rank of the L Fire Company will hold a bingo party at the fire hall on Thursday May 27. Proceeds support local fire department activities and community events. Tickets available at the hall and from members.
