Post Office Robber Caught. Noted Yeggman Arrested in Philadelphia
Amos M. Shank known as Barton Dutch or John Burny, long pursued postoffice robber, was captured on Broad Street Philadelphia after Lancaster County tensions. The Lancaster Postmaster and federal inspectors tracked him as a top safecracker with alleged raids on twenty five offices and links to churchville Maryland burglary. A valise search revealed stolen bonds and stamps. He waived a hearing and faced 10,000 bail, then imprisonment.

Despondent Lancaster Man Ends His Life at Home
Charles Himes aged sixty one committed suicide Monday morning at his adopted son Thomas Himes 629 East Madison Street Lancaster by a shotgun blast. He had feared financial troubles and had threatened to jump from a window. He lived five years in Lancaster after leaving Intercourse. Survived by adopted son and brother R C Himes. Funeral Thursday at 1 PM then 2 PM services at Intercourse U B Church. Interment In adjoining cemetery.

A mountain fire roared up the Welsh Mountain from the Downinitowwn and Lan Caster line near Naryvon station, driven by strong winds. Residents from Conestoun and Peqnesa valleys mobilized to start counter fires while Pennsylvania Railroad aided with equipment. The blaze burned about a thousand acres of timber and brush, threatening Vinola homes, but control was regained by midnight. winds rekindled it on Wednesday, creating heavy smoke and ongoing danger to farms in Cut Sestona and Peaies Valleys.

Tragic House Fire Claims Life of Mrs Sproat
In a severe accidental blaze on Wednesday night Mrs Sproat, 77, suffered extensive burns when her clothing ignited after a fire started near a chair and basket. Her daughter Mrs Conrad and passersby attempted rescue but she died shortly after midnight.
