A Sunday school program is set for May 21 at Red Well Mennonite Church with morning, afternoon, and evening sessions. The day features talks on teaching, pageantry, and church unity, with lunch provided and travel arrangements offered for distant attendees.
Milo Euninger, a well known young man, was surprised Wednesday evening by about twenty friends at his home. Imperial Mandolin Club provided music and a fine luncheon of ice cream and cake accompanied the cheerful gathering.
Roy Brubaker proprietor of the Kinzerton grocery plans a two story addition to his rear property. He reports growing patronage and the need for more space to serve customers promptly. J H Town Ley and Son are the carpenters handling the construction.
Unclaimed letters include Mr Leidy as listed in the New Holland Post Office sailing week of May 6 1918.
New Holland defeats Columbia A C 12 to 1 in seven innings on cold windy day. Hershey named captain for the locals. Bair injures ankle sliding into second. upcoming home game against Coatesville Field Club noted as a fast aggregate in Chester County League.
A large gathering of relatives and friends met at the home of Abraham S. Martin in Brownstown on May 12. Attendees included many Geigley, Martin, Weaver, Oberholtzer, and Flickinger families from nearby towns. Bishop Benjamin Weaver led services after a sumptuous dinner, with singing to conclude a pleasant day.
The Clarion notes area firms will close at 6 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays during May to August, with the Clarion Office also closing Wednesday evenings. Listed are Bur Hess, I. G. Davis' Sons, H. The Y M C A arranges Memorial Day sports starting at 9 o'clock with races for boys aged 12 to 15 in the 75 yard dash and 1 mile run for 16 and up, a half mile for 13 to 15, 100 yard dash for 16 and older, plus broad and high jumps. Participants must notify George S Townsley Elias Diller Guy Bair or Willis H Seldomridge by May 24.
Commencement exercises will be held in Hess Hall Wednesday evening May 28 1918 at 8 o clock. Roth's orchestra will provide music. Dr J W A Hass president Muhlenberg College will deliver the address. Tickets available at Stauffer's Drug Store after 7 o'clock Thursday evening May 12. No one may obtain more than six tickets.
J. H. Townsley contractor removed the porch at J. C. Doerr's residence and restaurant that extended to the sidewalk middle. The change will give full width to the walk and improve the frontage. Doerr plans further improvements to enhance the business location.
The Denlinger family committee met on Thursday April 17 and decided to hold the next reunion at Lititz on August 13. An interesting program is being arranged.

The W M A of Ranck's Church will meet this afternoon at 2 o'clock at Mrs. Ezra G Ranck's residence. The scripture lesson will be 1 Corinthians 8. All interested are invited to attend.
New Holland plans Memorial Day activities with a parade and baseball game as part of the day’s commemorations. The event schedule features public exercises and community participation in remembrance.

Citizens of New Holland will observe Memorial Day with banks general stores and business places closed on Friday May 30. The Clarion Office will close until Monday June and the post office will operate 9 to 10 am and 6 80 to 7 80 pm.
The State Grand Lodge of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows will hold its annual session next week in Gettysburg. ALS Wee Snader, Esq., is listed as the representative of Earl Lodge No. 418.
The Postoffice Department orders three daily mails for Intercourse with a noon mail added starting May 16. The change aids the Intercourse bank and local business by speeding mail, while other items include baseball season opening on May 24 between Intercourse and Hinkletown, new Bell directories, stock and hog sales, road funds, new autos, and updates on local residents and transportation plans.
The Lancaster Fair Association reports daily entries across departments. State College will present lectures and an agriculture and livestock exhibit in a 50 by 100 foot tent. The International Harvester Co will host the largest farm implement exhibit ever at a Pennsylvania fair. New Holland Machine Co will demonstrate pumping engines at the tanks and main railroad entrance. The Boys' Corn Growing Contest draws many entries and organizers urge late posters to submit entry cards at once.
Captain William D. Stauffer of Lancaster commander of George H. Thomas Post 84 G A R has received the forms veterans must fill to secure transport to the Gettysburg anniversary celebration. Notary office in Dancistes will assist between 9 am and 1 pm and 2 pm and 4 pm. Applications must be made before June 1.
H K Storb of this borough, agent for the Overland cars, delivered a fully equipped 1918 Overland touring car to J M Kreider, jeweler, in Ephrata this week.
J O Templeton and wife of Detroit spent the week with H W Johnson and family. Mrs G M Horst and son Glenn of Denver spent the week with S S Hollinger and family. The W. C. T. U. held a Tuesday gathering at Mrs. Bru baker’s home with devotions by the president. Minutes were read and approved. A lecture by Oliver Stewart of New York is set for May 24 at the U. B. Church on Medical Temperance. A.M. Nicholl’s article on Alcoholic Degeneracy was noted. Diller sisters were named to organize a Dues social. Adjournment set for two weeks at Miss Stanffer’s.
In Common Pleas Court last Friday the jury returned a verdict for Abraham H. Hooker against the New Holland Water Company for $100. The suit claimed appropriation of water that powered the plaintiff’s flour and grist mill on Mill Creek.

Miss Carrie E. Seber resigned from the Independent line on Thursday. Miss Florence Bair of this borough was appointed to fill the vacancy.
N N Sander sold and delivered a Ford touring car this week to Landis Hershey near Hershey's Church in Salisbury township.
Trinity Church will be closed tomorrow due to the absence of the pastor. There will be no session of the Sunday school or the Luther League.
A series of weddings took place in Lancaster area towns with Percy H Shaub and Cora M Dixon wed at their New Holland home. Lewis M Storb Jr and Emma M Clime married in Terre Hill, while Kath Esther Fellentaum and Percy Wi Sweigart joined in Green Bank. Mabel R Weaver wed Harry H Reitz at the bride’s home.
Governor Tener last Saturday signed the Thompson bill prohibiting the sale or gift of cigarettes or cigarette papers to persons under twenty one. Such sale is punishable by a fine from 100 to 300 dollars. A minor in possession must reveal where obtained, refusal is a misdemeanor. Offenders over sixteen face a fine or five days in jail. under sixteen, the Juvenile Court takes charge.
The Court approves a charter for the Isaac Randall Industrial Training School for colored boys and girls to be located in Salisbury township. Incorporators include H. B. Best S. S. Worst W. P. Galt Ephraim Hershey James Shand Rev. M. WH. Hagler Allan B. Wallace William Bullock Daniel Qehme Ira Hershey H. L. Worst B. S. Weiler J. B. Eby Conrad Hillard and E. Hershey.
Tax notice lists payment dates at Eli Hess Store on May 34 and Diller Hardware Store on May 31 with evening collection at residence after 7 30. Five percent discount offered for taxes paid on or before June 1 1918. W E Davis collector.
Thursday marked the twenty fifth wedding anniversary of Dr and Mrs H C W Showalter. A dinner was served in their honor by Jacob E Kauffman and wife at their new Jackson street home. J W Showalter and wife and C B Renninger and wife attended, and they received a silver remembrance.
Sunday services at Cedar Grove Presbyterian Church include morning preaching at 10.00 and evening service at 7.00 led by Rev. RS Clark of Lancaster. The Holy Communion will be administered after the morning sermon. Preparatory services are held on Saturdays at 2.16 pm. All cordially invited.
On Saturday evening Renninger and wife gave a supper in honor of Jacob E Kauffman and wife.
