Pure Food Law reshapes whiskey labeling nationwide
A July 1 implementation of the Pure Food Law will require straight whiskey to be aged and unblended for the label. The reform will affect rectifiers and blenders and alter current whiskey products. A White House luncheon highlighted Catholic attendance among dignitaries, with President Roosevelt and Secretary Root among the few non Catholics. The piece notes political shifts and church influence, and mentions Congress aiming to adjourn by July 4. It also discusses Japan United States relations, a treaty for arbitration except on honors and territorial rights, and Roosevelt’s reputation for vigor.
