Class Day exercises occur tonight at 8.00 at New Holland High School with the pageant Gypsies for a Day. Baccalaureate sermon Sunday May 28 at 8.00 by Rev. Benjamin Wenger of Ephrata Mennonite churches. Commencement is Wednesday May 26 featuring When Marble Speaks.
The church's Mother's Day program at 10:30 a.m. featured a choir anthem and varied performances by all church and Sunday School departments. Introductory remarks by Lewis Garman highlighted purpose and plan, with music, solos, and department selections led by multiple coordinators and finally an address by R. E. Whitmore representing the consistory.
On Sunday May 16 the New Holland Scouts travel to Philadelphia to visit the Franklin Institute and view a planetarium demonstration. They depart at 10 30 a m with scout leaders and wives, bring box lunches. At Buchmiller Park Lancaster the preliminary camporee May 21 22 includes Frank Bair as patrol leader with Lester Wagner and Richard Kurtz as assistants plus James Bachman Robert Ames John and George Storb and Paul Hawk. Scoutmaster Kauffman and Diffenderfer lead the Tuesday troop meeting where Leo Grant joins the Cuckoo Patrol after passing tenderfoot.
Rev Frank Ulrich and William M Mearig will attend the Lutheran Ministerium of Pennsylvan ia and adjacent states meetings in Atlantic City New Jersey next week. The opening communion will occur at the Church of the Holy Communion Philadelphia after which delegates move to a large hotel auditorium by the shore. George S Townsley serves as alternate delegate from Trinity Lutheran Church in the borough. Sessions conclude Thursday.
The Goodville Fire Company met in the fire hall on Wednesday evening with president I. N. Kramer presiding. Two new members were elected: Martin R Weaver and Horace B Good George C Witman and Time Kramer were elected delegate for the year to serve.
West Earl Township Fire Company No. 1 elects officers led by President George M. Zeiser and plans to form a non profit corporation named West Earl Fire Company No. 1. An application for a charter will be filed in Common Pleas Court with signatories including Miltori Michaelis and Ivan Fry. Meetings will be held monthly at the High School Building.
The Women's Missionary Association of the United Brethren Church Intercourse and the Otterbein Guild plan a joint meeting of mothers and daughters on Monday May peet the with details to follow.
Miss Esther Corbett daughter of Charles Corbett and the late Mrs Corbett married Alvin Stauffer of Goodville in the First Baptist church Lancaster on May 5 at 7 15 pm The Rev A H Owens officiated The couple will reside in Goodville after a southern state honeymoon.
At the Zion Lutheran Church Leacock Church Council meeting it was announced that on Whitsunday May 16 a Confirmation and Holy Communion will be observed. There will be no Sunday Vespers on May 23 due to Upper Leacock High School graduation events at Leola Methodist Episcopal Church. The next meeting is Tuesday evening June 1 at the same place.
Reverend and Mrs David Park Lantz Mennonite missionaries end eight and a half year stay in Argentina. They will reside a month at 1010 North Duke Street Lancaster before heading to California. They plan an eighteen month furlough then return to South America for further mission work.
In a nearby city a blaze draws a crowd as J Keller Mentzer and friends witness police pushback. Henry Nagle extols Liberty Fire Company and its smoke masks, vowing rural methods beat modern equipment and save money.
Samuel R. Myer of Bareville was elected regional director and Rev. John R. McClellan of Leola regional secretary at the Lancaster County Lions clubs regional meeting held at the local high school. 190 Lions attended. district officials and speakers included J. Harvey Shue and Rev. Charles A. Roth. six vaudeville acts were performed.
John T. Weber 78 of Penryn Lancaster county died at his home May 13 after a six month illness. A teacher for 23 years he later ran a Penryn general store and served 52 years as Justice of the Peace and 33 years as a land surveyor. He held church roles for 58 years and led the Sunday school for 49 years. He helped found the Penryn Cemetery Board in 1918 and was first president of the Penryn Fire Company. Survived by wife Olivia and eight children, 22 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren. Funeral at St. Pauls Lutheran Penryn Sunday at 2 pm with burial in Penryn Cemetery. Visitation 7 to 9 pm Saturday at home.
The Helping Hand Class of Trinity Lutheran to hold a rummage sale at 26 South Duke Street Lancaster on Wednesday evening with proceeds likely benefiting church activities.

John M Fenninger eighty four died at his home Friday morning at Girvin's Greenhouse Leola after months illness. He was born in Leacock township son of Frederick and Hannah Fenninger. He worked as a farmer and belonged to Salem Reformed church Heller's. Survived by wife Mary Munson formerly of Lancaster and by children Edward Jere Frederick Mary Jamima Elsie Anna Celeste Bessie Myrtle Sallie John Lyndell plus a sister Mary Seldomridge. Services were held at 1 15 p m Sunday at home and Zeltenreich Reformed church with interment in adjoining cemetery.

In a Pennsylvania high school event led by Miss Irene Pennington, girls across grades perform folk dances for grace and poise. The program opens with the Danish Grand March, includes Today's the First of May, Paul and His Chickens, The Shoemaker, Seven Jumps, The Crested Hen, Gustaf's Toast, Napoleon, Roselie, and Weaving with Ruth Brendle at the piano.

Mr. and Mrs. Paul F. Esbenshade announced the engagement of their daughter Pauline to George D. High at a surprise party for the couple celebrating their twenty-fifth anniversary. Guests from Lancaster Blue Ball Leola New Holland and other local towns attended with gifts and rosebuds.
Intercourse United Brethren church marks U P Day with a morning sermon by Pastor Rev. Ira D. Lowry on Young People and the Church. Junior Christian Endeavor Society provides music. At 7 30 pm Charles Muehling and his Flying Squadron lead a gospel music program and message.

Twenty five members met Tuesday evening at Mrs. P. R. Wentz home to announce a forthcoming benefit movie. Sympathy committees were named for East New Holland and West New Holland. The next meeting is set for Tuesday June 8 at Mrs. John Whitmer's residence.
The Friendship class of Heller's church plans its annual May party in the church social room at 7 p.m. Tuesday May 25. Mrs John Steffy presides as president. A refreshments committee is named for the event and the Unknown friends will be revealed. An annual election of officers will be held.
