Soldier and Old New Hollander Remembered in Lancaster
A 1855 migration from New Holland, Lancaster County, to Mlinots produced John Sheaffer and others. Sheaffer, a tinsmith and veteran of the Seventy-fifth Illinois, fought at Perryville and subsequent Civil War battles. He returned to Sterling to resume work, remained active in church and temperance causes, and left a large family. his wife Eliza Goshen died in 1893. Many comrades are named, and he is remembered for duty and scholarship.

Bareville Town Secures Scales Factory Investment
Through local initiative Bareville and surrounding residents have secured a scales factory that will employ over a hundred workers once built. Land for the site has been purchased and £2500 has been subscribed for capital.
