Velma Seifred leads the Business and Professional Women's Club at a regular monthly meeting in the high school library. Members plan the summer program and discuss inter-club relations while noting Red Lion Club’s anniversary and Belgian aid shipments.
The American Legion Auxiliary held its monthly meeting at the Legion Home on Tuesday evening. It approved donations totaling 15.00 to cancer and scholarship funds and advertising for the Auxiliary’s annual plans, while sending 150 pounds of candy to Coatesville Perry Point and Malley Forge Hospitals.
Mr and Mrs Ludwig Pflaumer of New Holland celebrate fifty years of marriage on Tuesday May 18 at the home of Rev D Gerhard in Lancaster. They have five daughters Ruth and Jerre Frankhouser of New Holland among them two sons and eight grandchildren. The couple are both 80 and Mr Pflaumer recently retired from the former New Holland Milling Company.
The Inter-Club Rally hosted by service organizations will be on May 16 in the high school auditorium. Dr Charles S Swope will be the guest speaker and music will follow the banquet. The Lions Club committee includes John Kothel chair Paul Esbenshade J J Sheaffer Robert P Simon Richard Bair George A Young. Subcommittees cover areas such as meals stage decorations reception song and table decor with volunteers listed.

Mrs Clara Bitzer sixty eight former Lancaster resident died at State Hospital Harrisburg at 7 30 am Wednesday. She is survived by two children Clarence J Bitzer Bird in Hand and Miss Catherine Bitzer Theola along with brothers and sisters Annie Leonard Alice M Burns Willis Tout all of Lancaster Irene Althouse Strasburg Abraham Tout Quarryville Wesley Tout New Providence and six grandchildren. Funeral at C Abram Snyder Funeral Home 141 East Orange Street Lancaster Saturday at 10 am Burial Menninger's Mennonite Cemetery. Friends may call at Snyder Funeral Home Friday 7 to 9 pm.
Maurice Seaman Zimmerman age 56 a retired coal and lumber merchant of Paradise died Friday evening after a prolonged illness He conducted J W Brackbill and Company for 25 years He belonged to Paradise Presbyterian Church Fellowship Men’s Bible Class Lions Club and several Masonic and fraternal bodies He is survived by wife Esta Brackbill Zimmerman brothers and a sister in law Funeral services were held at Brown Funeral Home Paradise and burial was in Paradise Mennonite Cemetery
Bertha M Dinges widow of Philip Dinges aged 78 of 584 Woodwards Street Lancaster died Friday at St Josephs Hospital after a month long illness. Funeral arrangements were made in Lancaster with interment at a local cemetery.

Mr and Mrs Charles Arnit of Leacock announce the betrothal of their daughter Mary Ann Arnit to Pfc Walter Sifers son of Mrs Jennie Sifers Gunnison Colorado. The formal engagement was disclosed at a family party with May pole streamers nosegays and apple blossoms as table decor. Miss Arnit works for Armstrong Cork Company in the main office. Pfc Sifers serves in the U S Army stationed in Japan.
At a Wednesday night meeting the borough council appointed Parke Dunlap, foreman at the New Holland Machine Company local plant, to fill the vacancy caused by the death of John M. Bruckart. The council also passed a new traffic ordinance and designated an annual clean-up date.
The Class of forty at New Holland High School plans its annual trip to Washington D C on a chartered bus Thursday and Friday May 15. Accompanying teachers are Miss Virginia Heman Miss Elizabeth Troxell and Mr Carl Driscoll.

Brandywine Transit Company of Coatesville asks the Public Utility Commission for permission to take over Horseshoe Lines routes and extend the Coatesville Bran dywine Manor line to Elverson. They also seek to consolidate eastern Lancaster routes to provide uninterrupted service with 28 buses planned pending approval. Protests by Reading Company and Reading Transportation Company are on file. Safeway Trails protest was rejected for late filing.
Liberty Fire Company met in regular session with Lewis L. H. Martin presiding. Five new members were elected George Musselman William Kurtz Richard Krick B Roy Witmer and Raymond Martin. The group plans a forthcoming Fire School inviting members of other companies if interest exists. County Fire Association Secretary Harry Grobe attended and spoke. Plans for the County wide Cubaroo were announced at a general committee meeting. Cub Packs from Lancaster County will arrive in New Holland May 10 to form a parade at the High School grounds then move to New Holland Community Park at 10 10 am. Musical groups will accompany the parade and local businesses are urged to display flags and colors.

Thirty senior students from Elizabeth Irwin High School in New York City visited Lancaster County Pennsylvania to learn about German customs. Norman Studer led the party as they planned to tour the coal fields before returning home. They met Mrs George Musselman and tasted sausage sweets and shoofly pie at Peoples Restaurant for local color.
