New Holland to stage a county wide kite Karnival with a June 28 event open to youths up to eighteen. The program features an endurance contest and novelty events including a kite dog fight and a fancy kite contest drawing participation from Lancaster County communities.
Curious crowds are invited to a Cootie Party at the American Legion Home 108 West Main on Thursday May 22 at 8 00 PM. Sponsored by the New Holland Auxiliary Osteopathic Hospital Lancaster the event features tables for adults and children prizes for high scores refreshments and a 25 cent admission. The mysterious game aims to entertain and educate attendees while secrecy guards the play method.
Trinity Lutheran Church observes Lace Day next Sunday May 11. The Light Brigade directed by Miss Evelyn Rosehoro will present a playlet and the usual offering for this purpose will be lifted.
Fry fifty eight of this borough died suddenly Friday afternoon in the paint room at New Holland Machine Co. He suffered heart disease two years. Survived by wife Cora Rutter two sons Charles and Albert Lancaster four grandchildren father Rhesa Fry two sisters Katie and Lottie. Funeral Monday at 2 with services at 149 East Main Street. Interment in Lutheran cemetery.
Mrs Maria G Kurtz widow of Rev John S Kurtz died at her son in law and daughter Milton and _____ Horst home near the Reidenbach store two and a half miles north of New Holland after a three month illness. She was a Mennonite.
The King's Daughters hold their monthly meeting Tuesday evening in the Reformed Church social rooms at 7 15. At 8 00 women and girls over thirteen are invited to the main auditorium where Miss Agnes Ferriter of Lancaster will address her work as policewoman. Special musical numbers will be performed by members.
Miss Myrtle Frederick of West Main street is a patient at Lancaster General hospital after an appendectomy performed last Sunday. She is reported to be improving very rapidly.

Notice states Peters Road will be closed to all traffic for about one mile starting May 26 1930 from Groffdale Rates to a point beyond the road. Authorities urge drivers to seek alternate routes during the closure period.
The Ladies Auxiliary of Conestoga Post 662 American Legion held a successful card party at the Legion Home on Wednesday evening. A door prize of 2.50 in gold from the Veterans Hospital Coatesville was awarded, with many prizes donated by local merchants for high scorers in pinochle and five hundred. Scores listed include Asther V. Swope, William Hoffecker, Mrs. H. E. Herr, Mrs. Clarence R. Weaver, Betty Lewis, Lloyd Greiner, H. G. Nonnemacher, B. Lloyd Yuninger.
Kurtz Henry K. Kurtz of Ephrata and Miss Anna F. High of Bareville were married at noon Saturday in Lancaster at the First Reformed Church by Rev W Stuart Cramer DD. Bridesmaids were Agnes High Anna Kurtz and Esther High. Best man was Clyde R Kurtz. Ring ceremony used. They will live in Ephrata after a brief honeymoon.
At the borough council meeting James OC Henninger of East Main Street was chosen as the new Burgess to fill the vacancy created by Guy E Wallace's resignation and relocation to Lancaster. Henninger assumed duties immediately.
The Bicentennial Program at Trinity Lutheran Church closed last Tuesday with Rev. Allen L. Benner delivering a speech to a full auditorium. The event coincided with the Lancaster Conference Spring Convention, whose semiannual meeting featured strong opposition to plans realigning Pennsylvania synods from six bodies to four groups.
Destructive fires Sunday and Monday in Lancaster County destroyed hundreds of acres of timberland at substantial cost. Firefighters, including local volunteers, battled the flames with backfires and saved some properties as the blaze spread toward nearby towns.
A Colonial Tea will be held next Thursday evening May 15 at 8 o'clock in the Sunday School rooms of Trinity Lutheran Church. The Constant Workers' Class arranges the event with refreshments and a program of music recitals instrumental solos duets a vocal sextette and two one act plays When Abner Played Pussum and Proposing to Jane. The public is invited.
Dr. John H. Sensenig of this borough departed Monday to attend the Steffington Graduate Clinic in Philadelphia. The program is conducted all week under the Philadelphia Society of Optometrists at the Pennsylvania State College of Optometry building, 1809 Spring Garden Street. This marks the fourth year such post graduate clinics have been hosted locally.
Four members of St Stephen Reformed Sunday School won prizes for essays on Stewardship in a local school contest part of a denomination wide event. Eloise Bachman led Group A with first place, Melvin Groff second in Group A, John Garman first in Group B, and Janet Hope first in Group C. Bachman and Garman also earned classical contest prizes for Lancaster and Dauphin counties. Presentation occurred during Sunday School last Sunday, with Assistant Superintendent Robert Yoder in charge.
U B Church announces Mother's Day events with a Sunday School program and a morning service led by Rev. F. B. Ewing of the Harrisburg District.
The Lions Club of New Holland will meet at the Legion Home 108 West Main Street on Tuesday evening May 13 at 6 30. It is the first regular meeting in over a month with many matters to discuss and reports to hear. Officers for the coming year will be nominated at this session and full attendance is requested.
The Christian Endeavor group meets Sunday evening at 6 30 with Verna Stauffer and Anna Groff leading the program on developing goodwill at home. Last Sunday's discussion on life-work, led by Mr. Harvey Mohler, engaged almost all members and sparked participation.
New Holland's Junior Base Ball League kicks off on May 14 at 6:00 p.m. with the Yankees led by Isaac W. Cauller facing the Athletics under Harry E. Ressler. Four teams, named for eastern AL clubs, will compete in a parade led by the Boys Band sponsored by the Lions Club. Ex-President Zwally to throw first ball.
Ella Lauder and numerous relatives spent weekends with relatives in Vici Hammertown Pomeroy Bareville Churchtown and Lancaster. The visits included Mr and Mrs Howard Yost Mr and Mrs Edwin Conner A L Futer Arthur Myers and other family groups in Brownstown Glenn Grove Supplec Terre Hill and Manheim.
The Young People’s Department of St Stephen Reformed Sunday School held a May party for Beginners and Primary pupils last Thursday evening. Activities ran 6 30 to 8 on the church lawn and in the department room with games and refreshments. About thirty pupils attended with teachers and roughly twenty Young People members aiding.
The Troop met Tuesday evening at 7 30 at the school house with marching practice and a business session. No tests were passed. Next Tuesday the meeting moves to the cabin and scouts aiding in cleanup should report to John Sensenig Jr at 4 pm. A sour kraut supper is served at 7 pm followed by the regular meeting.
The family of the late John M Lauffer expresses thanks and appreciation to friends and neighbors for assistance and sympathy during their bereavement. They extend gratitude to all who furnished aid and kindness.
The Tritown Lions Club from Bareville Leola and Leacock presents The Black Heifer a rural comedy drama in Upper Leacock High School on Saturday evening May 10. Proceeds go to the concrete paving fund. Female parts feature L McDonald Ben Rowbotham and Lester Kurtz with Norman Kensinger Joseph Wentz Frank Stellar Samuel Myers R E DeWalt C R Cooper Emil Nonnemacher and M Myers in the cast.
A special Mother's Day service will be held at St Stephen Reformed Church featuring an augmented choir with former members and experienced singers. The program will include old favorites and new musical selections, followed by a brief address by Mrs Emma Burkholder of Lancaster. Everyone is invited to attend.
